A coding-focused hosted model
Particle’s October 28 release introduces Particle-1, post-trained on DeepSeek V4.1 Flash for software engineering. The company reports 28.4–52.2% fewer output tokens across four benchmarks, with pass rates within the base model’s confidence intervals. These are vendor results, not our measurements. [1]
The blog’s cost comparison uses fixed token prices and a 95% cache-hit assumption. Current billing documentation has its own rates, tiers, and account-specific terms; the headline savings do not predict your bill. [1][3]
Check the request limits
The original model catalog lists 1,048,576 tokens for prompt and completion combined. Output defaults to 32,000 tokens if no limit is supplied; explicit limits are capped at 131,072. It does not advertise a schema-conformance guarantee. [2]
Our take
For experienced technicians, compare correct completed work, verification quality, and total charges on representative tasks. Fewer tokens can be useful, but an incomplete change or missing qualification can erase the saving.
