Codex in the terminal flags unread results and expands edits

Developers running several coding tasks can see which results are waiting and inspect proposed file changes at the approval prompt.

What changed

OpenAI released Codex CLI 0.167.0 on the evening of November 5 in U.S. Central time. It adds unread markers to the agent command center and the list of sessions. A session is an individual conversation or coding task. Codex also lets you expand the details of a patch, a set of proposed file changes, while a request for approval is open. [1] [2]

Put it to use on a small change

Imagine one session updating a help page and another fixing a test. The unread markers help you see which result you still need to look at. If Codex asks permission to change a file, expand the patch in the conversation to see what it proposes. [2]

Our take

Start with a change you can check quickly. If you asked for a wording fix, look for changes to the expected file and read the lines Codex wants to remove or add. Finding the result saves time. Reading the patch is what tells you whether the proposed edit matches your request.
