Choose what Copilot may fix
GitHub’s October 28 announcement brings Agent Merge into pull requests on GitHub, following its app and VS Code availability. The Watch and fix control can permit repairs for failing Actions workflows, merge conflicts, or both. [1]
The docs require paid Copilot cloud access, applicable organization policies, and the repository’s Enable automations policy. Forked and stacked pull requests are unsupported. AI credits are billed to the person enabling it, who may differ from the author. [2]
Readiness and merging are separate
Enabling Agent Merge does not enable auto-merge. Repository review requirements and status checks still apply; inspect the changes and workflow results. Its fixes run in an Actions-based development environment. [2]
Our take
For experienced technicians, define the repair scope and billing owner before leaving a pull request unattended. A passing workflow is useful evidence, but still review the proposed change against the intended behavior.
