What changed
On November 6, Cursor announced a two-way voice call with its coding assistant. Dictation already let you speak a message into the text box. During a call, the assistant can answer out loud, and you can ask a question while it keeps working. Grok Voice handles the conversation. The coding model you chose still does the coding work. Where to look for it
Cursor says the waveform button appears when the coding assistant is idle and the text box is empty. In the code editor, the chat also needs at least one message. Sessions started with a developer API key cannot use the call feature. Cursor says the transcript appears in the chat, and its claim of zero data retention for voice chat applies with Privacy Mode on. [2]
Our take
In a sample project, ask Cursor to change one button label. While it works, ask which file it is touching. Then read the list of edited lines before accepting the change. A quick spoken answer helps you stay oriented, and the written changes show whether the edit stayed as small as you intended.
