What changed
Anthropic’s October 22 announcement makes an Anthropic-managed route to Claude on Google Cloud generally available. Anthropic operates the service and processes the data; Google IAM supplies authentication and Google Cloud Marketplace handles billing. This is an additional deployment option for existing Claude models. The separate Google-managed offering remains available, with Google acting as the data processor.
Check the account and active work
Setup creates a separate Anthropic organization. Existing API or Claude Enterprise organizations, workspaces, and settings do not move automatically. The documentation says an existing zero-data-retention arrangement in another organization does not carry over; request and confirm the new arrangement before sending sensitive material.
Removing a creator’s Google access does not stop existing Managed Agents sessions or scheduled deployments. The docs call for explicitly interrupting running sessions and separately pausing, updating, or archiving schedules. A permissions change alone does not end that work.
Our take
For small teams already using Google Cloud, consolidated billing could simplify purchasing. Treat onboarding and offboarding as explicit workflows: record who processes the data, which organization holds resources, and how active agents are stopped. Keep that checklist with the project’s operating notes. A familiar cloud account does not make those decisions automatic. We have not tested this integration or its operating costs.
