What changed
OpenAI announced GPT-Live-1.1 and the smaller GPT-Live-1.1 Quip for ChatGPT Voice on October 15. Its release notes describe more natural accents and new voices for French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Mexican Spanish, plus an English voice called Bubbie. These are provider descriptions; we have not compared the voices ourselves.
How to check your options
OpenAI's current guide directs readers to Settings, then Voice, then the Voice selector. Check the options available in your app: voices can differ by region and account. The guide distinguishes Live, Advanced, and Standard voice modes; availability also depends on plan, workspace settings, and app version. Live supports interruptions, but its transcript may not exactly match what was said.
Our take
Editorial analysis: try a short, low-stakes exercise before relying on a voice assistant for work. Use fictional notes with two fixed facts and one unknown detail. Ask for a spoken summary, listen to the reply, and compare it with your original notes. Did it keep the facts and leave the unknown unresolved? Then correct one fictional detail and ask for another summary. Did it follow the correction? Clear speech can make an answer easier to follow; it does not establish that the answer is right.
