ChatGPT adds shared slide decks. Review before presenting.

OpenAI's October 16 update brings collaborative Slides to eligible accounts. Check the content and the exported deck before sharing it.

What the update offers

OpenAI's October 16 release notes introduce ChatGPT Slides: editable presentations that you can create from a conversation, source files, or an outline, then keep working on in Space. You can revise text, images, shapes, and charts directly or ask ChatGPT for changes. Teammates with edit access can work on the same deck in real time.

Slides is rolling out to eligible Pro, Business, and Enterprise accounts with Space access. Having a listed plan does not establish that the feature has reached a particular account.

Check which version you are using

On the web, OpenAI lists export options for PowerPoint, PDF, and Google Slides. On desktop, opening a deck in PowerPoint or Keynote requires that app to be installed. Those options should not be treated as identical workflows.

OpenAI also describes a Windows limitation: local slide creation and editing use PowerPoint files when the MXC component required for collaborative Slides is missing. Its help page points to web or cloud mode for collaborative Slides. Check that page if the desktop experience differs from the announcement.

Our take

Editorial analysis: start with a short outline and a few reliable source notes. Give each slide a clear job, such as explaining a decision or showing the next step. Before presenting, check names, dates, numbers, and chart labels against the original material. Invite a colleague to review the claims as well as the appearance. Open the exported file and check its layout too; a neat deck can still carry an unsupported claim or a confusing chart.

Source timing

This is newly added coverage of an October 16 announcement, checked October 18. We read the release notes and help pages; we did not create a deck or test exports for this briefing.
